Wigginshire Christmas Newsletter 2008

On this the last day of 2008 there's not much to say but, "wow". A lot has happened, but nothing big to report. In fact a lot has stayed the same. We are still in the same house and not yet found that ideal piece of land to move to and start our "farm". Analeasa's still bright and beautiful and ever so slowly growing. The highlights of this year have been Analeasa's fifth birthday, our long awaited family reunion week, almost a whole week seeing Great Grama, and the big prep for what we are in the middle of celebrating--the 12 days of Christmas. Levi's been pretty faithful in taking pics of, well...mostly food, but here's a little slideshow of this year. We hope your celebrations this year have done justice to the primary reason any of us have to celebrate at all.

More to come during Christmas. And hopefully following.

A little spring before summer

Just a little something to let you know we still exist. Here's a little Analeasa, a little desert, and Oriel making a fun face talking to one of her favorite Hippie friends.

A Few Family Photos

I (Levi) was looking for a good place to shoot our family photo for the Church bulletin board and he traipsed Analeasa all around the house posing her here and there to check the lighting. When they got upstairs, he said she was looking so cute, preoccupied with her flower and apparently oblivious, that he took a bunch of pictures of her.

Prettiest Girl on the Planet

And here are the family portraits we took. A few stragglers from Christmas, too. We're obviously not professionals. The 10 second auto timer thing is especially difficult to master, more so without a tripod. Mr. Mark, where are you when we need you? This is what we've got:

Family Portraits

PS And while you're there, should you happen to go, also take a look at the Two Girls album - pictures of Oriel & Analeasa being together. Cute.

Cheers,

Levi

Resurrection and new life

Levi was commenting on the way down the mountain today that next Sunday, the brown, dead trees would probably be all green with newly budding leaves. Analeasa got all excited and said that was Resurrection Sunday, and that the trees were coming back to life just like Jesus did!

Making Jewish Egg Bread

If you have no time pressures, Christmas is a great time to be in the kitchen with your child. I personally enjoy making things with Analeasa because she is so interested and wants to help with everything.

This was an attempt at Challah for a friend who misses the traditional braid wreath at her Christmas breakfast table in Panama. Oh, and Analeasa's pretty good at braiding, too.

The Pink Guitar

Levi got this gift for Analeasa in July last year and I tortured him and made him wait for a real reason to give it to her. This was very hard for him as he has difficulty waiting to give something even a couple hours most of the time. But I think he would agree, that her face was worth it. When Christmas came, she got to open this one last. Completely unexpected. It's still a bit too big, but it's 1/2 or 3/4 size, so it's just right for my small hands. He's impressed upon her that it's not just another toy, but an instrument meant for creating beautiful music.

For her birthday she got some books and CD's to help with that and if I have the patience, I'll be attempting to learn with her how to do just that. Play beautiful music. or at least just music would be a real accomplishment for me.

So, of course, pink. And fairy, and flowers. Oh, and mister moon too. Hee
Levi snapped a couple the other day.

Oh, and I guess I should explain that in our family the "Blue Guitar" is the thing. Levi's crazy about all guitars, especially if they're blue. We love bluegrass. I had a custom designed blue mandolin made to his specifications for a surprise wedding present. So the "pink guitar" is quite a departure from the norm, but she loves it and I think it's darling.
