Anglo-Saxon literature. Anglo-Saxon history. Anglos-Saxon culture. But what about the Jutes? They crossed the channel and killed lots of people too. But does anyone study Jutish culture? Oh no. All we ever hear about are the stinking Angles and Saxons.
Sometimes I feel like a Jute.
Frowny Bracket.

Posted by: Puritaniac at October 4, 2003 10:02 AMI always want to know more about the Visigoths. They always seem sidestepped in the rush from 476 to the 12th c. renaissance.
Posted by: Jeannette at October 8, 2003 06:39 AMAngles, Saxons, and Jutes. Angles, Saxons, and Jutes. Frisians?
The Jutes got solid ground in Kent and the Visigoths had most of the Iberian peninsula 'til Roderick lost it. Frisia doesn't look like much on a map and they killed lots of Britons too.
Jutes: priveleged in their otherness, othering the other other. Jutes=Eoten.
